I was out hiking the other day and stepped off the trail to let some runners pass. As I was waiting, I glanced up and saw a perfect spider web, sparkling in the sun. In the middle of the web was a very large spider. (I like spiders so this didn't bother me.)
The thing that occurred to me as I continued on ..
Do spiders ever worry? Do they worry about the possibility of not getting enough bugs? Do they think, "Hey! It's been too many hours since I last caught anything. Am I going to starve?"
Obviously I'm not a spider. I have no idea what spiders think. But somehow, I suspect not. I suspect they just do their thing and live moment by moment.
Do you think it's possible to channel this? It seems awfully useful.

It does seem like it's pretty useful sometimes. I do think it's possible to channel this experience/attitude, but I personally haven't been able to channel it for extended periods of time. Living in each moment as it comes is certainly something I aspire to, though.

@Steph: I was mostly wishing I could channel their not-worrying. But I suspect that comes part and parcel with living in the moment. I aspire to it too. I guess all we can do is keep aspiring and plugging along!
