i have a serious backlog of photos to go through, and not a photo of atlas is to be found in them. it is a sad, sad day. (for the pup, i mean. this is when i turn into puparazzi. hee.)
this is still one of my favorite photos of the pup. i took it in 2004, shortly after he turned one. in this photo, i can see the seven year old puppy that he will become. i know that the girl who adored her puppy back then cannot even begin to imagine how much more she will adore him now - after all the good and the hard of those six years together.
it was so fun to write the list of nicknames i have for atlas, and it was even more fun to read the comments and emails about pet names people have for their pets. since i wrote that post, atlas has acquired two more names: rascally fellow (you can imagine when this one gets used) and marco polo. i call him marco polo when we're wandering in the little patch of trees near our apartment. he likes to explore. plus, when he vanishes in order to explore, i tend to call "atlas" and listen for crashes, which reminds me of playing the game marco polo in the pool when i was younger.
atlas is attempting to make a new kitty friend. wish him luck.
a little neighbor girl told me, "i like your dog. he has a cute little face. i like his cute little face."

Terrific portrait..and I love how you're paralleling his growth with your own.

Oh, but I like his cute little face too! And very sweet how Atlas is like you, and how you're growing together. Bring on the puparazzi!! ;o) Happy Day, Elizabeth ((HUGS)) Oh, loved your comment at my place on the cinnamon rolls... tee-hee...

Pupparazzi, heh. ;) I'm glad you get out that camera, Elizabeth. This is a great shot, and I enjoyed reading the post about how you've grown together and deepened your relationship.

I like this shot since it's looks like a proper portrait. I'm ready for the current day shot with Atlas in his smoking jacket, pipe hanging out of his mouth, looking dignifiedly down on generations to come.
