whenever i finish a roll of toilet paper, i carry it downstairs to the recycle bin. (well, unless i give it to atlas; he likes to eat cardboard. i just don't think it's good for him to eat every single empty tube.)
often, as i am coming down the stairs, i see atlas staring out the window. of course, i just have to peer at him through my brown cardboard spyglass. (i am imagining you nodding your heads knowingly at this.)
this morning, as i looked through my spyglass, it occurred to me that it might make a cool photo.
yes. so so so loving the result. when i just glance at the first two photos, it almost looks like i managed to make atlas appear closer than he really is, even though i really didn't - there's just a frame around him. (oh. the reason i included the second photo is because i noticed the reflection of atlas in the picture on the wall and liked it.)
in case you want to try this at home, i had the aperture set to maybe 2.5 (a low number, anyway), focused on atlas, then held the tube in front of the camera so it framed his face. i forgot that i would be able to see my fingers - there appeared to be no way around this - but they were so out of focus that it didn't really matter.
i shall definitely play with this again.
