in many ways, atlas and i are kindred spirits.
and then there are the ways we are not. say, for example, in the things that interest us on a hike.
atlas stops for large sticks and to gnaw on branches attached to trees and to read the latest pee mail and for dead things and for things that seem edible.
my response to most of his interests? ewwwwwwwww.
i stop to bask in the sun and to watch raindrops on puddles and to listen to the silence of the forest and to admire the colors all around me.
atlas' response to most of my interests? a long stare of puzzlement. ("what on earth is she stopping for now?" a thought bubble above his head would say.) a sniff of the ground in front of me. and then he trots off to find something that really is interesting.
(by the way, have you ever stopped to watch rain falling on calm puddles? it is the most fascinating thing ever. all the circles forming and reforming and forming and reforming - so quickly that you can hardly follow their progress. i could watch them all day. oh! that totally needs to be made into a screen saver! someone design it, please.)

that picture of atlas!!! so cute--

i love watching rain in puddles. one of my biggest
love's is driving through rain puddles on the road
and watching the water slide across the windshield.
so you know how much i love going through a car
wash.
when i was little ioved popping tar bubbles on the
old county roads. i mean, i know that has nothing to do
with your post, but i just felt like saying.
hi atlas.

i'm pretty sure that is already a screen saver. i think i have it on my cell phone:)
and thank you so much for this post today, for the smile & laugh (@pee mail) it brought at the exact moment when it was needed:)

LOVE this shot of Atlas!! I have found myself in the rain lately taking shots from under my umbrella, including rain on the puddles. Fun stuff!

Oh, and I totally get about being interested in different (shall we say "baser"?) things. Sometimes I just look at Muffy and say "You're such a dog." Because of course, I've temporarily forgotten!

Try google. I googled "screensaver raindrops" and got lots of hits. You might find what you want.

@jen t: exactly!
@jerry: i will!
@patty: lol. i know. they can be so intelligent that it's easy to forget. and i was so wishing i had brought my camera. next time.
@helen: so happy it helped. xoxo
@kelly: it has everything to do with my post. or rather, whether it does or not is not important at all. i like to hear what people have to say. :) and now i want to pop tar bubbles.
@kerri: poor pup. never a moment to himself to enjoy the sun. ;)
