just a quick note to say

I am in the process of crafting my Reiki offering into something that's a little more me and a little more fun and a little more supportive.

As part of that, I will no longer be offering single sessions. If I could offer only one service, it would be the series of three Reiki sessions, so that is what I'll be offering. People tend to sign up for Reiki sessions when they need extra support anyway, and I've seen what happens when we commit to setting aside time to focus on our self and our well being again and again.

I don't know when the page will be updated exactly - I can be kind of slow about these things - but I wanted to let you know ahead of time. The single session will remain until the update, just in case you were pondering it and the time is right.

the benefits of Reiki

My Reiki practice is officially open for business! Yay!

One of the troubles I have with Reiki is that I can't really say, "This is how a session will benefit you .." I've talked about this problem before - that's partly why I share my experiences with it.

I did a lot of Reiki sessions during March and April and asked everyone to report back on their experience. (All distant sessions, since that is what I was planning to offer.) I thought that if I could get a good sampling of results, I might find a few commonalities that would help me give you at least some idea as to how a Reiki session might benefit you.

The one thing I did hear back from most everyone was that they felt really deeply relaxed during the session. Other than that, the experiences were as individual as the recipients.

Except, now that I think about it, they were all similar to things I've experienced myself: change or lessening of pain, physical sensations during the session, better sleep, more energy, clarity, change in mood, epiphanies ..

So, I guess I'm back to my original plan. I still can't say, "This is how a session will benefit you .." All I can do is share my - and others' - experiences with Reiki.

goodbye to the blue lotus

The name, that is, not my blog.

I named this blog the blue lotus because I wanted a name that symbolized the holistic nature of wellness. To me, the lotus flower represents that concept perfectly.

That being said, I am leaving my current position at the end of April so that I can focus on my Reiki practice and photography, but I don't intend to use "the blue lotus" as my business name. (Truth be told, I am saving that name, for a future use.) I plan to do business as myself.

Since I am rather fond of my current blogs, and don't want to abandon them just yet, I am slowly turning them into a "website" of sorts, which means that it is time for "the blue lotus" name to disappear.

It is a beautiful name, so I thought it deserved a proper good-bye.

Good-bye, dear name. Enjoy your rest.

I forgot to mention

If you're interested in trying reiki, just let me know - even if you don't live near me. I enjoy sending it.

It will help, however, if I have a photo (if I have never met you or seen a photo of you). I am told that you do not need a photo to send reiki, but it is much easier for me to do so if I can visualize the person.

blue lotus?

Why did I use blue lotus as a blog name?

I was looking for a name that symbolized the holistic nature of wellness. The lotus flower is considered sacred in many religions and cultures. The roots of a lotus flower are in the mud and the stem grows up through the water so the blossom is above the water's surface. To me, the lotus flower epitomizes the beauty and perfection and promise within each of us. I also believe that true wellness comes from within - when we realize and embrace this.

Why the blue lotus?

Truth be told, I just like the color blue.
